Description
This is my 18" x 24" oil painting "reproduction" of Vincent van Gogh's very famous painting " Vase with Fifteen Sunflowers". The Original can be seen in the National Gallery in London , England.
Vincent van Gogh has painted many famous sunflower paintings, but the four main ones are. (1) " Three sunflowers", Private collection. (2) "Six sunflowers, destroyed by fire in WWII on August 6th 1945. (3) "Twelve sunflowers" , Munich, Germany (4) "Fifteen sunflowers" England.
In 1889 Vincent painted the third again and the forth two more times from looking at the originals. These paintings were called the " Repetitions".
The first one is in Philadelphia , United States, the second one is in Amsterdam , Netherlands.
The third one sold on March 31, 1987 to a Japanese insurance magnate Tasuo Goto for $ 39,921,750 at Christie's Auction in London, at the time a record-setting amount for a work of art.
