Medium
Painting - Oil On Clayboard
Description
This is an oil painting of a section of the Wye River in Wales. The reference photo and the technique are from MJ Smith. It is a 14 x 16 oil painting on clayboard, the under painting was done in acrylic to work out the problems and colors and also a time saver. One of my objectives was to make this painting have a photo quality . To do so every leaf and grass blade where all done one at a time.
The River Wye is the fifth-longest river in the UK, stretching some 134 miles from its source on Plynlimon in mid Wales to the Severn estuary. For much of its length the river forms part of the border between England and Wales. The Wye Valley (lower part) is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The Wye is important for nature conservation and recreation.
