Description
" FOR VIEWING ONLY AT THIS TIME" ......Please Read and give comments....... I painted this painting for a theme (Surrealism) at our local art show. I had read where we can paint a painting if it was 50 years old in Europe and 70 years old in the U.S. so I went ahead with this painting.
Salvador Dali painted this in 1931 and showed it in 1932 for the 1st time .....so the math comes out to 2002. Now I have read where it is 70 years after their passing, which I tend to believe. And yet there are many places on line where you can buy a repainted original .
So for now I would just like to display this for enjoyment and discussion purposes ONLY. I did very much enjoy painting it and would like to do more , like old masters. Please leave you knowledge of Copyrights on this situation or any other matters..............thank you!
A Little About Dali and this painting.....................The Persistence of Memory is a 1931 painting by artist Salvador Daland is one of his most recognizable works.First shown at the Julien Levy Gallery in 1932, the painting has been in the collection of the Museum of Modern Art in New York City since 1934 . It is widely recognized, though it is commonly better known by the more descriptive (though incorrect) titles, 'The Soft Watches' or 'The Melting Watches'.
The rocks (cliffs)to the right represent a tip of Cap de Creus peninsula in north-eastern Catalonia, where he had lived. The hill like shadow in the foreground of this painting is a reference to Mount Pani. The creature is some how representing himself. The creature has one closed eye with eyelashes, suggesting that the creature is in a dream state. The orange clock is covered in ants. Dalused ants in his paintings as a symbol of decay.
